Under this title, Jesus is seated after having been scourged at the pillar, crowned with thorns as King of the Jews, cloaked and made to hold a reed scepter.

The fine articulation of the face, hair, bones and muscles show the sculptor’s mastery. The head is large for the body. emphasizing the facial expression, two centuries before the correct anatomical proportions would become an artistic concern.

The lateral hair curls were meant to keep the crown of thorns in place. The three holes through the cranium were intended for the potencias. The left hand originally held a reed scepter. All these were lost over the years, The encarnacion, if weathered, is of warm flesh tone.
