On February 19, 2014, Forty Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 were presented to the member of the press and other guests at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

The candidates showed their gorgeous physique as they sashayed on the stage wearing 2 piece swimsuits in different shades. The event was hosted by Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul, Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner Up Ariella Arida and Miss Tourism International 2013 Semi Finalist Cindy Miranda.

Also present on the event are previous Bb. Pilipinas winners, Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner Up Maria Venus Raj, Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up Shamcey Supsup – Lee and Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman – Alcaraz.

Here are the 40 candidates vying for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Crowns:

Binibini 1 – Julian Aurine Flores

Julian Aurine “Ja” Flores, 23, is from Manila. She has a degree in Hotel and Travel Management from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. Ja worked as a freelance model before joining Binibining Pilipinas. Her hobbies include traveling, listening to indie music, skateboarding and wakeboarding. She is also a huge fan of the Walking Dead and the Amazing World of Gumball. 
This is Ja’s first time to join Binibining Pilipinas. She joined upon the encouragement of her mother, who hopes that she can represent the Philippines in the international scene and give honor to the country. She believes that her warm and bubbly personality will make her stand out in the pageant.

Binibini #2 – Mary Ainjely Manalo

Twenty-one year old Mary Ainjely Manalo is from Pasay City. She is a newly-minted Registered Nurse, having graduated from Centro Escolar University last year. She sacrificed the opportunity to immediately work as a nurse in order to pursue her dream of joining Binibining Pilipinas.
As an only child, Ainjely is very close to her parents, so she considers her parents’ separation as her biggest struggle in her life. Still, Ainjely is thankful that even separated, her parents have a good relationship with each other and both are very supportive of her bid to become a beauty queen.

Ainjely’s hobbies include mountain climbing and hitting the gym with her best friends.

Binibini #3 Joanna Angelica Romero

Bicolana Joanna Angelica Romero is twenty four years old. Formerly working as a Sales and Marketing Officer for a hotel in Manila, Joanna sacrificed her work to pursue her dream of joining the Binibining Pilipinas and representing the Philippines in an international pageant. Despite the challenges of living alone in Manila and supporting herself financially, Joanna is focused on clutching the crown and finds inspiration in her family. She looks forward to making her father proud when he comes home from abroad to watch her during the pageant in March. 

Joanna is very passionate about music but also spends her downtime surfing the internet. Also inclined to sports, she was a basketball varsity player in college.

Binibini #4 – Parul Shah

Half-Indian and half-Filipino Parul Shah, 25, is a Registered Nurse from Pangasinan. This is her second time to join Binibining Pilipinas, and she believes that this year people will see a stronger and better Parul. “You know what they say, when it’s a comeback, it’s more exciting. I really prepared for this; I worked on my weaknesses. I got this second change, and I am going to work harder,” she says. 

Apart from her Binibini preparations last year, Parul also took the time to volunteer for relief operations in Bohol and Tacloban, and considers this experience as one of the best things that has happened to her so far. “Helping them made me feel grounded. No matter what happened, I see in each and everyone in us that we didn’t lose hope. Hope was what kept us going even through the calamities. The calamity opened my eyes to see the bigger picture in life,” she says. 

Parul loves cooking, playing volleyball, and surfing. She has also dabbled in hair styling. She is fluent in Hindi, Arabic, Gujarati, Ilocano, Filipino, and English.

Binibini #5 – Hannah Mariz Dela Guerra

Twenty one year old Hannah Mariz Dela Guerra hails from Mandaluyong City. After graduating with a degree in Management Information Systems from Ateneo de Manila University last year, she was hired as a Technological Consultant Service Reporting Management at one of the biggest technology companies worldwide. A techie as well as a beauty, she balances studies and joining beauty pageants. She won Miss Mandaluyong in 2011. 

Hannah is the youngest and only girl in her family. On her spare time, she likes to read books and go swimming.

Binibini #6 – Anabel Christine Tia

Misamis Occidental native Anabel Christine Tia is 25 years old. She is a Registered Nurse, but is currently an art teacher and a restaurateur. This is her first time to join a pageant, and she flew to Manila just so she can fulfill her dream of becoming a beauty queen. Because of this, she had to sacrifice family time and time for her businesses. “I also said to myself that I will not entertain suitors or have a boyfriend—if I had a boyfriend now, mahahati pa yung time ko. I’d rather have no distractions while I’m in Binibini,” she stresses. 

Anabel considers her mom as the driving force behind her Binibini bid. “My mom was pregnant with me during a Miss Universe contest and she said that this child—me—will be a beauty queen,” she says. Anabel loves to paint, sing, dance and is into formal and 3D makeup. One of her quirky talents include imitating different voices.

Binibini #7- Aiza Faeldonia

Twenty four year old Sultan Kudarat native Aiza Faeldonia is a part-time model and a graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the Green Valley Foundation Inc. She is very passionate about cooking. 
The 5’9 stunner is a determined individual and she is a firm believer of positive thinking. In her elementary days, she used to sell vegetables in the market with her grandmother. 
She takes pride in having a strong mind and a good memory. She is a certified nature-lover, and she also enjoys playing sports like basketball.

Binibini #8 – Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach

Former ABS-CBN Star Magic artist Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, 24, is from Cagayan de Oro. She took up Culinary Studies at Café Ysabel and worked in England for several months before coming back to Manila. 

As an actress and model, Pia was her family’s breadwinner, and she considers getting through taking care of her family as one of the best things that happened to her. “I was 11 when I stepped up to become a breadwinner through modeling and acting. Now I’m glad that they’re settled and finally okay. This experienced helped me mature a lot, and I don’t regret it,” Pia says. 

This is Pia’s second time to join Binibining Pilipinas, and this year, she feels much more relaxed and carefree, which she credits to her sister’s influence. “I’m the more serious ‘ate,’ and she is more carefree. She taught me how to have more fun,” she says. 

When not in the thick of Binibini activities, Pia loves to cook, bake, act, host, sing and dance.

Binibini #9 – Joy Antonette Diaz

Joy Antonette Diaz, 22, represents Dagupan, but grew up in the United States. A Political Science graduate from the University of California, Irvine, she plans to take up Law and become a family lawyer in the future. She decided to come back to the Philippines to rediscover her roots and join Binibining Pilipinas after graduation. 

While her return to the country has been smooth sailing so far, Joy admits that it was hard for her to be away from her family, since it was the first time she was away from them. “But I learned to be independent, and I came to appreciate the Filipino culture more than ever. Our country is so beautiful,” she says. 

Her hobbies include baking, singing, and playing sports such as basketball and pole vaulting. She is passionate about helping the less fortunate and hopes that when she becomes a lawyer, she can fulfill her dream of helping others.

Binibini #10 – Shauna Indra Salina Curran

Half-Scottish, half-Igorot Shauna Indra Salina Curran hails from Baguio City. She is a 22 year old freelance events host and radio DJ in Baguio. Shauna joined Binibining Pilipinas because she wants to showcase the beauty and wisdom of Igorot culture. “The modern Igorota is very respectful of other people’s beliefs. Igorots around the world also treat one another as one big tribe, as one big family, which is something I am very proud of,” she says. 

An Igorota that continuously inspires Shauna is her own mother. “My mother has been there for me from the very start. I admire her strength to raise my brother and I on her own, since my father works away,” she adds. 
Away from the beauty pageant scene, Shauna loves star gazing, hiking, swimming, trekking and listening to music. She also loves discussing topics about the supernatural.

Laura Victoria Lehmann hails from Makati. The 20 year old was pursuing three majors–Psychology, Neuro Science and Spanish Studies in the US before joining the pageant. She was the president of student council. She sacrificed a year of schooling to join the Binibining Pilipinas, but she considers the pageant as a learning experience that will teach her life lessons of discipline and confidence.

A combination of beauty, brains and brawn, Laura is also highly skilled in sports. She is part of the Philippine Team of Softball and dabbles in touch rugby. As part of the Philippine Team for softball, she was able to compete in the US and Europe. Throughout all these physical activities, she endured broken arms and legs and 125 stitches in her body.

Binibini #12 – Sarah Jireh Asido

Twenty-three year old licensed educator Sarah Jireh Asido hails from Balagtas, Bulacan. She graduated with a double degree in Social Science and Social Studies from the University of Santo Tomas. It has always been her dream to join Binibining Pilipinas and become an inspiration to other women.

Sarah is a proud Bulakenya who would like to promote her whole province through the Singkaban Festival, a province-wide festival wherein all cities and municipalities gather to celebrate the culture, food, and festivals in Bulacan.
Prior to joining Binibining Pilipinas, Sarah was a high school social studies teacher and a volleyball coach and trainer. When not hard at work, she loves to play sports such as badminton, table tennis, volleyball, and biking. She also loves listening to music.

24 year old Cebuana Kris Tiffany Janson is a Finance Analyst at a packaging company in Manila. Despite her serious job role, she is very fun-loving, free-spirited and adventurous. On her free time, she likes skim boarding, island hopping, travelling and trying out different cuisine.
Her main inspiration for joining the Bb Pilipinas Pageant is her father, who died due to a heart attack. Her father wanted to see her join a prestigious beauty pageant. Despite being away from her family and being away from her comfort zone, she strives to do her best in the competition.

One of her best memories was a trip she took with her family before her father passed away, and in the future, she dreams of travelling at least half of the world.

Binibini #14 Emma Mary Tiglao

Proud kapampangan, Emma Mary Tiglao hails from the town of Mabalacat. The 19 year old took up Tourism from the Holy Angels University. An early achiever, Emma started schooling at the early age of 5. Not even in her twenties, she is already living independently and adjusting to life in Manila. Now among the youngest contestants in Binibining Pilipinas, she hopes to use her youth and vibrancy to dominate the competition.
Emma is an animal lover and she owns several pets. She owns birds, cats, hamsters and fish and even won the Ms. Zoomanity award in a previous pageant she joined.

Binibini #15 Kimverlyn Suiza

Marikina-native Kimverlyn Suiza is 25 years old, and formerly worked as a Segment Producer at a top-rating noon time show on local television. Kimverlyn is fiercely independent and is a fighter. The eldest child, she took on the responsibility of taking care of her grandmother and brother. She also survived a brush with death when she had dengue in 2005. Since then she realized she has to do things she loves and live life to the fullest.

Her hobbies include singing, dancing and playing the guitar. She is an animal lover, and she enjoys taking care of her dog. Among her ambitions in life is to have her own business–a salon and spa–because she wants to pamper her family. Through the pageant, she hopes to develop her confidence and become more outgoing.

Zahara Mae Soriano, from Pasig City is a Tourism major from World Citi Colleges. Determined and strong-willed, Zahara supports herself by being a part-time model while studying.

Her ambition as well as her mother’s prodding fueled the twenty year old to join the pageant. She idolizes past beauty queen, Dindi Gallardo. Apart from being a beauty queen, Zahara dreams to either follow the footsteps of her family members and obtain a seat in politics or become a psychiatrist.

Zahara stays fit by running and jogging, and also enjoys reading books sleeping. She wants to try belly dancing and wind surfing in the future.

Binibini #17 Diana Arevalo

25 year old Calapan, Oriental Mindoro native Diana Arevalo was a former welcome ambassador in a major hotel in Macau. A survivor and a hard worker, Diana is proud of having established herself in another country, and has gained more respect for struggles of Filipino workers abroad.
Diana’s interests are varied, from reading books, watching documentaries, cooking and make-up. She is also very adventurous and loves eating exotic food. So far, she has tried eating snake, crocodile meat and frog and she looks forward to trying out more exotic delicacies.

Binibini #18 Ellore Noelle Punzalan

26 year old Ellore Noelle Punzalan from Las Pinas City is a part time model and Medicine student from the Far Eastern University – NRMF. Apart from being a beauty queen, she hopes to become a good doctor in the future.

Her interests are very diverse, ranging from active sports like swimming, biking and Taekwondo, to reading self-help books and watching cartoons. For Ellore, juggling school, work, modeling, hobbies and all of her interests is a challenge, and so she confesses she has never had a boyfriend since birth.

Her parents inspired her to join the competition because she wants to make them proud if she wins. As a comeback candidate, she has a deeper thirst for the crown and she is confident that the experience and insights she gained in the past will give her better leverage for this year’s competition.

Binibini #19 – Mae Liezel Ramos

Camarines Sur native Mae Liezel Ramos,23, graduated with a degree in Nursing from the Ateneo de Naga, and is currently studying Medicine at the De LaSalle Health Sciences. She is a pageant veteran; she started joining beauty pageants at 17 years old. “I started joining pageants because I wanted to have a good training ground, to hone my skills for when I join Binibining Pilipinas,” she says.

Liezel is a licensed nurse, but she also plans to become a specialist in Internal Medicine. Her interest in medicine was inspired by seeing “gory stuff” in Discovery Channel documentaries.

A proud Bicolana, Liezel loves eating spicy food, and even has sili in her bag just in case the restaurant she is eating in does not have sili. If given the chance to promote one of her favorite dishes, she would promote pinangat, because it is spicy and healthy at the same time.

Binibini# 20 Kenneth Santiago

Young entrepreneur Kenneth Santiago is 21 years old and hails from Nueva Ecija. After graduating cum laude in Tourism at the Nueva Ecija Colleges, she established her own business by designing shoes and selling them online and in stores across the city.

Although she is a girly girl, she was named ‘Kenneth’ by her father because he wanted to have a son. Kenneth is very active, and enjoys playing badminton and running. In fact, she was a badminton varsity player in her school. She lives a very healthy lifestyle and enjoys buying and preparing vegetables and fruits from the market. She also loves travelling alone and discovering new places.
In the future, she hopes to have her own boutique business and raise a family of her own.

Binibini# 21 – Racquel Kabigting

Six-foot-tall Racquel Kabigting, 22, hails from Mariveles, Bataan. She is currently studying Civil Engineering at the Bataan Peninsula State University. She joined the Binibining Pilipinas pageant upon the encouragement of her friends and family. Her beauty queen idol is Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez.

Racquel is also a senior member of the Bataan Technical Rescue Unit, and is trained to give CPR. She is also skilled in rapelling, river crossing, and roping. Her hobbies include playing sports such as bowling, swimming, biking, and mountain climbing. She also does a bit of sketching.

Binibini #22 – Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti

Statuesque at 5’10”, Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti or Marianne, is from Taguig. She is 24 years old. She graduated with a degree in European Studies major in International Relations from the Ateneo de Manila University. She currently works as a Technical Assistant of the Executive Director at the Community and Family Services International.

Marianne is a pageant newbie who was encouraged by friends and family to try her luck in Binibining Pilipinas. “I’ve had a lot of people telling me to join because of my height. I’ve thought about it many times, but I kept on putting it off first. But I realized that I’d be bettering myself not just in the pageant, but life in general. I realized I want this, I want to win one of the crowns,” she says.

She is trilingual; she fluently speaks Portuguese, English, and Filipino. She loves learning about different foreign cultures. She is also a humanitarian, and a cat lover.

Binibini #23 Nichole Marie Manalo

Twenty-four year old Nichole Marie Manalo is from Paranaque. She’s an ICU Nurse at Ospital ng Makati. She had to sacrifice her job just to be able to join Binibining Pilipinas. Her hobbies include going to the beach to swim and surf. Her quirky talents include acrobatics and hula hooping.

Nichole joined the pageant with the encouragement of friends and family who saw her potential as a beauty queen; her older sisters were Binibining Pilipinas-World 2002 and Miss World 2002 top 10 finalist Katherine Ann Manalo and Miss Universe Philippines 2009 Pamela Bianca Manalo.

Her aunt, Nini Ramos-Licaros was also Binibining Pilipinas-International 1968. It was challenging for her to join the pageant because she has to prepare herself mentally, physically and emotionally. Her support system, which are her sisters and aunt, sets her apart from the candidates since they give her advices about the pageant.

She wants to become a distinguished registered nurse in the future and be able to help other people through her profession.

Binibini# 24 Ednornance Agustin

23 year old Ednornance Agustin from Davao City is a freelance model and beauty pageant enthusiast. In her elementary days, Ednornance was very boyish, and she did not have a lot of girl friends. Growing up, she bloomed, and with the encouragement of friends and family, she started modeling and joining pageants. Venus Raj’s story and how she became a successful TV personality after her Miss Universe stint inspired her to participate in this year’s Binibining Pilipinas.

Initially scared of Manila life, Ednornance faced her fears and relocated to the city center to pursue her dreams. Going to Manila alone without a house and her family with her was challenging because she had to learn how to be independent.

She aspires to be a successful model, to have her own business, to be a motivational speaker and have a family of her own in the future.

Binibini #25 Mary Jean Lastimosa

26 year old North Cotabato native Mary Jean Lastimosa is an entrepreneur. A personal advocate of staying fit, she successfully established her own slimming center in Davao.

Growing up in a war-torn province, she developed values of determination and courageousness, and this is something she brought to her personal life, her career and her journey to the Binibining Pilipinas crown.

Binibining Pilipinas’ Maricar Balagtas is her inspiration for joining the pageant again, because she joined three times before winning. Whenever she feels down, she looks up at her and thinks that if she was able to do it and so can she.

On her free time, she loves working out at the gym, travelling, modeling, dancing, and surfing social media websites.

Binibini# 26 Hanna Sheena Manuel

22 year old Hanna Sheena Manuel hails from Tuguegarao City and is taking up Financial Management at the University of La Salette. Graduating from college is a great achievement for Hanna and she wants to become a strong and determined single career woman in the future.

Among the greatest struggles in her life was the separation of her parents, but these challenges fuel her to do well in the competition. Her family, especially her father, inspired her to join the Binibining Pilipinas in order to prove that she can be a beauty queen and become successful.

Whenever she finds the time, she loves reading books and surfing the internet. She speaks fluently Ilocano, Ibanag, Itawes, Filipino and English.

Binibini# 27 Hannah Ruth Sison

Hannah Ruth Sison is 25 years old and is from Makati City. She is a part time multimedia arts teacher at De LaSalle College of St. Benilde, freelance multimedia artist and model.

Hannah is inclined to the arts and is into singing, music, arts and fashion. She loves illustrating and photography. She loves Japanese animation and playing computer games. Interestingly, her birthday falls on 8-8-88 (August 8, 1988).

Hannah pursued going full time in preparations for the pageant by controlling her diet. She also worked on becoming less introverted and coming out of her shell. On her second time to join the pageant, Hannah is more determined than ever to take home the crown.
She wants to become a motivational speaker in the future and share how she became successful. She also wants to have her own business.

Binibini #28 – Carla Jenina Lizardo

Carla Jenina Lizardo, 24, is from Pasig City. She works as a freelance sports writer, a news anchor, and a radio DJ. She graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University, where she was a varsity badminton player.

She had to sacrifice her job as a news anchor in order to join the Binibining Pilipinas pageant. She believes it is worth it, though, because she sincerely wants to be a good role model to other women by being a beauty queen. Plus, she wants to be able to influence people and push for her advocacies. “As a beauty queen, you do get the spotlight, and it’s how you use the spotlight to create change. Now, I want to show people what I can do, what I believe in, and what I can do to help other people,” she shares.

Carla is a food enthusiast. She loves checking out new restaurants so much, that her friends go to her for recommendations. Her other hobbies include reading, drawing, writing, and cooking. She’s very obsessive compulsive, disciplined, and determined. She also always ensures her hands are always clean.

Binibini #29 Krischelle Halili

Krischelle Halili is from Tarlac. She’s 23 years old. She took Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas. She loves to write literature and opinion articles, loves hosting, partying, yoga and travelling. She’s a multi-tasker and is good in time management. She was born post term, grew up with male cousins and is a fan of the World Wrestling Federation.

She sacrificed her studies to join the pageant. In 2012, her family had limited resources and her family wanted her to work instead but she rallied with her father to pursue her medicine school. Her family were the last people to know about the joining the pageant. She kept it a secret until the last minute. She wants to become a doctor in the future and be in the forefront upholding the health and welfare of women.

Binibini #30 – Joy Marie Gangan

Isabela native Joy Marie Gangan is 19 years old and is among the youngest participants in the pageant. With her eyes set on the Binibinibing Pilipinas crown, she took a break from her studies and focused on the competition.

Among the greatest challenges in her life was when her grandfather and father passed away. Undeterred, she looks to them and her family as inspiration to emerge victorious. The adversities in her life have allowed her to have a strong and positive outlook in life.

Among the proudest moments in her life was when she won Best Model of the World in Istanbul, Turkey last year. She hopes to continue the achievements by adding a beauty queen title under her belt and becoming a successful businesswoman in the future.

Binibini #31 – Angelique Celine de Leon

Former Mandaluyong SK Kagawad Angelique Celine de Leon is 23 years old. She works as a Media Relations Associate at Summit Media. She plays basketball, loves arts and crafts and loves to watch the TV show Criminal Minds. She was also a former athlete and was a gold medalist for Discus Throw in 2007.

She considers her transformation—she used to weigh 180 pounds—as the best thing that has happened to her. “It’s not just losing weight, but I was also really boyish before. I had very short hair, was usually in jeans and shirt, and I used to play basketball. I used to find it hard to be girly. But my friends and family saw something in me, and I was encouraged to work out and be more girly,” she shares.

Binibini #32 – Jeslyn Santos

Jeslyn Santos, 21, is from Hagonoy, Bulacan. She is a Broadcast Communication graduate from Bulacan State University. She loves playing volleyball, singing and eating. She was a volleyball silver medalist from the National State College University Athletes Association.
This is Jeslyn’s first time to join Binibining Pilipinas, upon the encouragement of her family. She believes that her jolly personality will make her stand out in the pageant.

Jeslyn considers her mother as the most influential person in her life, because her mom is always there to give her sound advice, and always there to encourage her to try out new things and experience new adventures.

Binibini #33 – Gabrielle Erika Tilokani

Gabrielle Erika Tilokani of Mandaluyong City is 22 years old. She took up Marketing at the Rizal Technological University. Prior to becoming Binibini number 33, she worked at her mom’s business as a Tour Management Consultant. She loves singing, reading books, cleaning her room, and playing with her pet Bichon Frise.

Gabrielle has two younger brothers; one has ADHD and one is partially deaf. Because of this, she is skilled in sign language.
Joining Binibining Pilipinas has been a struggle for her, because she has sacrificed doing things on her own time. She also has a job of balancing her studies with her work at the same time. Despite the hardships, Gabrielle is driven by her Christian values to see her through the end of the competition.

Binibini #34 – Leonalyn Dela Cruz

Twenty-three year old Leonalyn Dela Cruz is from Caloocan City. She is a Certified Public Accountant who works as a part-time instructor at the University of the East and an auditor at an auditing firm.

Leonalyn strongly advocates for education. She is currently taking up her Masters Degree in Business Administration at Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and plans to take up Law after getting her MBA. She also loves reading self help and business books.
If given the chance to change something about herself, Leonalyn stresses that she will not change anything. “I think God gave me everything that I need. I believe that this is the face, body, and everything that God wants me to have so I won’t change anything,” she says.

Binibini #35 – Yvethe Marie Santiago

Daraga, Albay native Yvethe Marie Santiago, 20, is a Certified Public Accountant. 

Yvethe is a family girl who loves to spend quality time with her family. She came to Manila to join Binibining Pilipinas, so now she has to be away from them. Living on her own in Manila forced Yvethe to learn how to do everything on her own, which made her stronger and more versatile.

One of the best things that happened in her life was when she passed the CPA board exam. By becoming a Certified Public Accountant, Yvethe made her parents proud.

Krystal Alonday, 21, grew up in Paombong, Bulacan. She graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering from the Bulacan State University, and worked as a bank associate for an international bank before joining Binibini.
In her spare time, Krystal is a volunteer teacher for street children in Bulacan. She likes reading books and going to the beach. She also loves to collect tissue from the restaurants that she eats at, especially when it is her first time to visit a particular place.

Krystal used to have a hard time disregarding negative comments about her. “Growing up, I learned that the most important thing is to love yourself. You can’t please everyone, and you will always hear criticism from other people. You have to love yourself para kahit ano ang sabihin ng tao sa iyo, hindi ka maaapektuhan,” she says.

Binibini #37 – Vanessa Saliba

Vanessa Saliba is from Tanay, Rizal. She’s 18 years old. She studied Tourism at the Our Lady of Fatima University in Antipolo. She’s into sports such as volleyball and badminton. She loves travelling to different places.

She had to sacrifice her studies to join the pageant. It was difficult for her when her father had another woman and it was hard for her to see her mother cry every time. Her 18th birthday and graduating from high school are the happiest events in her life. Her father walked and joined her onstage during her graduation ceremonies. She wants to become a successful woman and help her family in the future.

Binibini #38 – Janine Asanion

Twenty-five year old Janine Asanion is from Zambales. She works as a nurse at the San Marcelino District Hospital, but had to sacrifice her work because her mother got sick and she has to take care of her mother by herself.

Apart from her dreams of becoming a beauty queen, Janine wants to have her own family and manage her own business in the future. Janine loves to cook, read, eat, participate in humanitarian projects, and helping out indigenous people.

Binibini #39 – Ladylyn Riva

Aklan native Ladylyn Riva is 26 years old. She is a registered nurse, a freelance makeup artist, and a print and commercial model. Ladylyn is very active; she is into tennis, badminton, and wakeboarding. People think she looks snobbish, but she sees herself as quite friendly.

Ladylyn sacrificed her job since this is her last year of eligibility in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant. She is determined to win one of the crowns as a tribute to her grandmother, who recently passed away. She believes that her experience in the pageant will make her a better person overall, and that it would help her get over her habit of doubting herself and her capabilities.

She considers passing the nursing board exam as one of the best moments of her life.

Binibini #40 – Vessica Sambo

Vessica Sambo, 21, is from Malolos, Bulacan. She is an Information Technology student at the Bulacan State University. Her unique name came as an accident. She was supposed to be called “Jessica,” but because of a typographical error on her birth certificate, her name became “Vessica” instead.

Upon the encouragement of her family and friends, she took a leap of faith and joined the Binibining Pilipinas pageant. She had to stop schooling in order to chase her dream of becoming a beauty queen.

Vessica considers her neck and eyes to be her greatest assets. She likes biking and watching movies during her spare time.

Bb. Pilipinas Grand Coronation Night will be on March 30, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler will help in crowning the new winners. Russian Pop Star Emin, who performed during the Evening Gown Competition in Miss Universe 2013 will be performing on the finals night.
